FELLOWSHIP CERTIFICATE IN DIABETOLOGY (FCD)
The Fellowship in Clinical Diabetology (FCD) is a comprehensive program designed for the Graduate doctors and also offers an opportunity to work in the MV Hospital for Diabetes and Prof M Viswanathan Diabetes Research Centre. These 2 institutions are recognized by International Diabetes Federation as a Centre of Excellence in Diabetes Care and by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Department of Science and Technology as a Research Institute respectively.
The training program is divided into 4 modules along with assessment after the completion of each module. Research methodology (Design of study, data collection, paper writing etc.) will also be a part of the curriculum with submission of one compulsory dissertation.
The program will include intensive practical exposure in the wards and Outpatient department along with the consultants managing different cases. There will be observership sessions in Ophthalmology, Podiatry/ Foot Care departments, Post-operative wound care departments (like HBOT etc.), Diet/ Dental Departments of the hospital. You will also get an opportunity to observe how our expert team of surgeons perform minor/major amputations thus helping save the lives of patients. You will also be exposed to the facilities of our Cath Lab and learn how we help to prevent amputations in patients
with severe foot problems.
This program involves regular discussion on various Cases and presentation of interesting Case studies in Internal CMEs conducted in the Hospital.
The FCD program will give the doctors the confidence to manage different cases in clinical diabetology and develop their research skills.
